The annual Spring Honors Convocation at the University of Southwestern Louisiana to honor students for academic achievement will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 28 in Angelle Hall Auditorium. Seventy-five area students JANICEC RADEUR DEBRA BOUDREAUX Opelousas Area Delegates To Girls State Selected JUNE SCHWARTZENBURG Deborah Clary, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

John Clary AIC; and Dianne Higginbotham, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cories Higginbotham, Lawtell. The delegates and alternates were selected by the Girls State committee of the American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs.

Dalton Comeaux is committee tit' 7 Kiwanis Club, AIC Parent-Teacher Club and Lions Club all of Opelousas. Alternates to the Girls State delegates are Amalie Lastrapes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lastrapes, OHS; will be among the honorees recognized at the affair. The Convocation will honor scholarship among senior, junior and sophomore students who have maintained a 3.2 or better average and graduate students who have maintained a 4.0 average.

Students elected to Phi Kappa Phi international honor society this academic year will also be honored as well as those women students elected to the Vermillion Honor Society, a local honor group for junior and senior women with a 3.2 or better average. The Honors Convocation will begin with the academic procession which will include USL's president, academic vice president, deans and heads of departments and others on the program. Dr. Clyde L. Rougeau, USL Three junior high school students from Opelousas and Lawtell have been selected to represent Opelousas American Legion Auxiliary 45 at annual Louisiana Girls State.

The governmental program will be held Aug. 10-17 at Louisiana State University in a Rouge. The Girls State delegates are Janice Cradeur, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rives J.

Cradeur, Opelousas High School; June Schwartzenburg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elridge Schwartzenburg, Academy of Immaculate Conception; and Debra Ann Boudreaux, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vickman Boudreaux, Lawtell.
